The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition performed as expected in gaming benchmarks, but truly excelled in productivity tasks, surpassing the RTX 3060 by a considerable margin.

Originally launched at an MSRP of $399.99 USD, with partner manufacturer cards averaging $470 USD. While the RTX 3060 TI competes against the newer 40-series GPUs, it continues to deliver solid performance in both 1080p and 1440p gaming for those who already own it.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

THE GOOD

  • Performance

Delivered performance that is notably closer to the RTX 3070 than the RTX 3060. In gaming tests it consistently outperformed its predecessor, the RTX 3060, by an impressive 25 FPS on average, making it a solid choice for gamers seeking higher frame rates.

THE BAD

  • Price

Partner manufacturer cards are selling for a higher average price of around $470 USD, which is above the original MSRP of $399.99 USD.

THE REST

  • Overall

The RTX 3060 Ti competes with newer 40-series GPUs that offer comparable performance. For those who already own the RTX 3060 Ti, it still delivers respectable gaming performance at 1080p and 1440p resolutions, making it a decent option for mid-tier gamers.

Hardware
HardwareNotes

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti utilizes 8nm technology and is built on NVIDIA’s Ampere architecture. The card is based on the GA104 graphics processor, which has 17,400 million transistors within a 392 mm² die. It features 80 Render Output Units (ROPs), 152 texture mapping units, 4864 shading units, and 38 ray tracing acceleration cores. With a typical board power of 200W, the card tested by Labs is manufactured by NVIDIA, and has a dual-slot, dual-fan design that fits in most computer cases. It has the standard RTX 30-series 3 x DisplayPort v1.4 outputs, and 1 x HDMI v2.1 port.

Test ConfigurationNotes

We will periodically retest graphics cards with updated drivers. We continuously monitor and update our results for accuracy. Stay tuned for the latest test results and insights on this product and others as we aim to provide up-to-date information on a consistent basis.

We actively address test bench variance in our evaluation process. Our methodology involves validation and calibration procedures to ensure consistency and reliability across all tests. The verified testbed variance for benchmarks in this product page is +/- 0.25%.

By monitoring and controlling variables such as hardware configurations, ambient temperatures, and system settings, we minimize potential sources of variance that could affect our results. This detailed approach enables us to deliver the most objective and accurate assessments.
