While the Keychron K2 (Version 2) does not come with proprietary software, it is compatible with QMK or VIA for advanced customization. The RGB version features 18 different lighting styles, which can be toggled using the dedicated lightbulb key or fn + right arrow key combination. Designed with macOS users in mind, the keyboard also offers a full Mac media key layout, ensuring seamless integration with macOS systems.
The Keychron K2 (Version 2) is equipped with Gateron G Pro mechanical switches, available in three types: linear Red, tactile Brown, and clicky Blue. Labs tested the Brown tactile version, which delivered an operating force of 38.53 gf, 2.65 mm of pre-travel, and 4.14 mm of total travel.
In terms of latency, the keyboard provided above-average performance with 17.7 ms in wired mode. While the higher latency may not suit gamers, it performs well enough for general productivity and non-gaming applications.
Although the Keychron K2 (Version 2) does not come with a wrist rest, it offers three adjustable incline angles—5°, 11°, and 12°—allowing users to customize the typing experience based on personal preference. For those who require more ergonomic support, Keychron offers optional wrist rests. Additionally, the keyboard supports N-key rollover in wired mode, ensuring accurate registration of key presses during fast typing or gaming sessions.
