Hardware
HardwareNotes

The Seasonic Focus GX-750 is equipped with a 135 mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing fan designed for quiet operation. It offers connections for the CPU, a 12VHPWR connector, additional PCIe devices, and multiple SATA devices.

In the Box, it includes standard items along with a PSU and cable bag, and velcro cable ties. The included PSU tester, provides a more user-friendly alternative to the basic connector with wires occasionally supplied by other manufacturers. The unit includes an ample supply of cables that, although not sleeved, are of solid quality, regularly insulated, and feature a braided pattern. The included power supply installation booklet provides very helpful graphics on how to install the power supply depending on the case.

The power ratings and specifications align with expectations for this price range. On the Seasonic specifications webpage it specifies that the Operating Temperature is 0°C to 50°C, though we cannot verify this through testing.

PerformanceNotes

The Focus GX-750 showed competent performance in tests. Throughout its full rated output power range of 750W, there was only a 0.109V voltage drop on the 12 rail, which is within ATX specifications.

The PSU meets ATX ripple specifications, with the peak-to-peak signal ripple of the fully loaded 12V rail measuring 35mV. The 5V and 3.3V rails also had a signal ripple of 35mV each. The 5Vsb rail was close to the limit of specifications, but it is a low-power output rail not used for powering critical components.

The Focus GX-750 handled power excursions adequately, with some marginal failures on the 12V rail that are unlikely to cause significant issues.

Productivity & Efficiency
Productivity & EfficiencyNotes

The Focus GX-750 is rated at 80PLUS Gold, achieving 91% efficiency at 50% of its maximum rated load. This is adequate, though not outstanding, at lower wattages. It performed sufficiently in brownout tests, withstanding a 12ms dropout at full rated load for both 115V and 230V inputs. Notably, this power supply will automatically resume output when the input power recovers in most cases.

The Over Power Protection activated at a maximum of 145% of the rated load, while the 12V rail alone is capable of 88A, or 141% of its rating. This provides reasonable protection against component faults and allows for minor power draw exceedances beyond the official rating.
