The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER Founders Edition is designed for gaming up to 4K resolutions and offers excellent ray tracing performance. It fully supports NVIDIA's range of DLSS technologies for cutting-edge graphical performance and efficiency.
With 16GB of VRAM and 10240 CUDA cores, the RTX 4080 SUPER marginally outperforms the RTX 4080 and is now priced at $999 USD MSRP, offering an attractive option for those seeking excellent ray tracing performance along with 4K gaming capabilities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
THE GOOD
- Game Performance
Exceptional 1440p and 4K performance
- 16GB Memory
Plenty of VRAM for most applications and gaming needs
THE BAD
- DisplayPort
The SUPER refresh of the 4080 should really include support for DisplayPort version 2.1
- Cost
It's still expensive considering the updates.
THE REST
- Overall
It is pricey, but offers an excellent gaming experience at 1440p and 4K. While not performing much better than its predecessor, the $200 price cut is welcomed. It's a solid card to upgrade to if you have older gens and want to keep your card for a while.
Utilizing 5nm process technology and the AD103 graphics processor, the RTX 4080 SUPER supports the latest gaming titles and future releases with features like hardware ray tracing and variable-rate shading, thanks to DirectX 12 Ultimate compatibility.
NVIDIA has marginally increased the CUDA core count from 9728 in the RTX 4080 to 10240 in the RTX 4080 SUPER, alongside slight enhancements in tensor core and shader core performance metrics. The card features 112 ROPs (Render Output Units) and 80 ray tracing acceleration cores, with no change in the TDP (Thermal Design Power) at 320W.
Despite its large triple slot card design, it will fit in most computer cases. It is a hefty card though, so it may need some support. In the box, it comes with the graphics card, a user guide, and a 12VHPWR to 3x 8-Pin PCIe Power Adapter.

Overall, the RTX 4080 SUPER offers an excellent 1080p to 4K gaming experience with its advanced features and technologies.
The RTX 4080 SUPER graphics card performed exceptionally well at 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p. In our testing, it always ranked towards the very top of the chart for gaming and raytracing. Though only slightly outperforming the 4080 non-super. Overall, our tests indicated that the RTX 4080 SUPER outperformed almost everything we tested it against.
We will periodically retest graphics cards with updated drivers. We continuously monitor and update our results for accuracy. Stay tuned for the latest test results and insights on this product and others as we aim to provide up-to-date information on a consistent basis.
We actively address test bench variance in our evaluation process. Our methodology involves validation and calibration procedures to ensure consistency and reliability across all tests. The verified testbed variance for benchmarks in this product page is +/- 0.25%.
By monitoring and controlling variables such as hardware configurations, ambient temperatures, and system settings, we minimize potential sources of variance that could affect our results. This detailed approach enables us to deliver the most objective and accurate assessments.
