The ASRock Steel Legend SL-1000G is a 1000W, fully modular ATX 3.1 power supply with an additional fan mode. As of the publication date, this power supply is listed at $159.99 USD from various online retailers. This power supply adheres to the updated ATX 3.1 PCIe 5.1 standards, including a 12V-2x6 cable rated for up to 600W.
We tested two units and both stopped functioning before we completed the first tests, and as such we do not have testing results. The only partial result we have is that it withstood the 15-minute warming time that every power supply undergoes at the start of testing. Both failed units were sent to ASRock for further investigation, and they are continuing to investigate these failures.
Without completing the tests on either unit, we cannot recommend the ASRock Steel Legend SL-1000G.

The ASRock Steel Legend SL-1000G is an ATX form factor power supply. In the Box, it includes sufficient accessories including a PSU tester and velcro cable ties. The cables are flat and fairly flexible, though some care is needed when bending them for cable management. A 12V-2x6 cable rated for up to 600W is also included.
The power supply is cooled by a 135 mm “Striped Axial” Fluid Dynamic Bearing fan. ASRock does not specify an Operating Temperature range and we cannot verify this through testing.

The SL-1000G includes a hybrid mode called “iCool”. This is controlled by the load and temperature of the power supply. It is advertised as having all standard protections and is backed by a 10-year warranty. These protections appear to have successfully completed their base task as no injury was caused, though the secondary purpose of protections to save the equipment was not successful.

As both units stopped functioning before we completed the first tests, we do not have any test results.
The SL-1000G is marketed at 80PLUS Gold, however, in the CLEAResult report, it was rated at 80PLUS Platinum. However, as both units failed before reaching efficiency testing, we cannot verify these efficiency ratings.
