The GameMax GX-1050 PRO WH/BK is a 1050 W, fully modular, ATX 3.1 power supply with a single fan mode. As of the publication date, it is available on Amazon for $159.99 USD. Despite being the latest ATX standard, white and black colorway, and unique wattage, testing revealed significant reliability concerns.
We tested two units and both stopped functioning before we completed the tests. Both units failed during efficiency testing under mild conditions, as such the following results presented here are limited by what we could obtain. Despite GameMax listing standard protective features, testing suggests these safeguards may not fully protect the user. Notably, after being disassembled for fault identification and reconnected to mains power, one unit emitted sparks, signaling a potential fire hazard.
GameMax has been informed of these failures, and we are analyzing the full response. Without completing the tests on either unit, we cannot recommend the GameMax GX-1050 PRO.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
THE GOOD
- Colorways
The GameMax GX-1050 Pro power supply is available in both white and black colorways, ensuring compatibility with different PC builds. Each variant comes with matching cables and cable connectors, providing a cohesive aesthetic.
THE BAD
- Failed Testing
Labs tested two units, and both encountered issues during testing. Neither of the two tested units managed to complete the full suite of evaluations.
- Efficiency
We could not replicate the results from the 80PLUS Platinum testing. One unit performed at 80PLUS Gold levels, while the other only barely qualified for Platinum.
THE REST
- Overall
As both power supplies stopped functioning before we completed our tests, we cannot recommend this power supply.
The GameMax GX-1050 Pro is an ATX form factor power supply. In the Box, it includes many accessories, including antistatic gloves, a case badge, velcro cable ties, and a Phillips screwdriver alongside the regular accessories. The cables are flat and fairly flexible, though some care is needed when bending them for cable management. A 12V-2x6 cable rated for up to 600W is also included. The white variant comes with white cables and connectors, complementing white-themed builds.
The power supply is cooled by a 135 mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing fan. GameMax does not specify an Operating Temperature range and we cannot verify this through testing.

Please note that the above ratings are manufacturer advertised specifications.
The GX-1050 Pro includes a single default fan mode, with the fan remaining on at all times. It is advertised as having all standard protections and is backed by a 10-year warranty.
Due to early failures, the GX-1050 Pro did not last long enough to undergo voltage ripple testing. Load regulation tests recorded a significant voltage drop of 251 mV on the 12V rail across the full load range.
The power supply also struggled with power excursion tests, exhibiting instability. While it remained operational at 0°C ambient temperature, the 12V rail displayed erratic behavior, dipping below 10.5V during some excursions—well beneath the 11.2V minimum specification.

Despite carrying an 80PLUS Platinum certification, our testing failed to replicate these results. The first unit consistently performed at 80PLUS Gold levels, with occasional Platinum-range readings, while the second unit barely met Platinum standards.
Surprisingly, the power supply endured a 19 ms brownout at 115V and a 20 ms brownout at 230V, despite its poor performance in other tests. However, neither unit reached the OCP test, and the corresponding graph has been omitted from the results.
